Dental Health

Mr. Pockets

Bobbi d’Arc designed this fan-tastic tool that the men can use for teaching dental health. Quite simply, it is a lab coat with extra pockets sewn on the front. Each pocket has a number painted on it and is filled with a prop. The props include, bottled water, a soda can, mounted radiographs, a toothbrush, candy, and a carrot.

Be creative and add your own personal touch when making one of these coats for yourself.

Arthur Dugoni School of Dentistry

ACDA made a $1000 donation to the Arthur Dugoni School of Dentistry’s fashion show. Proceeds will help to support the children's clinic. Representing the Alliance at the fashion show were (l to r) Kathi Webb, Tiana Rockwell, Joyce Oates, Heidi Williams, Kathy Wat. The event took place Aug. 23 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco.

Crittenton Services

Bobbi d'Arc coordinated a donation of toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss to Crittenton Services. The donation will help approximately 700 children and young adults in foster care, residential care, and in refugee shelters.

Crittenton Services for Children and Families helps troubled and abused children and adolescents through their adoption agency, counseling center, foster family agency, and other in-home family support.

Clinica de Tolosa

The ACDA awarded a $1000 grant to the Partnership for the Children of San Luis Obispo County in support of their children’s nonprofit dental clinic, La Clinica de Tolosa, in Paso Robles. La Clinica de Tolosa has improved access to dental care for underserved children within the County of San Luis Obispo with over 24,000 dental visits having been scheduled to-date since opening its doors in July 2003. The clinic’s goal is to continue improving access to care by providing a full range of dental services, including treatment requiring dental surgery. This funding is to help provide for dental treatment requiring IV sedation or general anesthesia for children from underserved families residing in San Luis Obispo County. The clinic offers a full range of preventive, restorative, and emergency dental treatment for children up to the age of 13 and Foster Care children up to the age of 18. In addition, the dental team provides education to parents/caregivers on good oral hygiene and its importance to the overall health of their children. The clinic is the only facility in San Luis Obispo county providing dental care to children age five and younger who are enrolled in public assistance programs such as Denti-Cal or Healthy Families. It is also the sole facility serving children only under the age of 13.
